Geneva Jacuzzi

Kooze Control - http://www.mediafire.com/?ogmknjymyr4

Here's some weird stuff for you. I would place it somewhere between French synth stuff and Neon Indian, but with clumpy makeup. Apparently she's been in a bunch of projects with a bunch of different folks. I haven't heard any of them but if they are anywhere near as good as this I'm stoked to listen.

Good for: falling asleep on a ratty carpet.

Tiger Trap is the best twee band and Puzzle Pieces is the best twee song. Pack it up and go home, folks.

Shellshag

Destroy Me I'm Yours - http://www.mediafire.com/?eyu8qizcqs2pidv

I first saw Shellshag opening for This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb in an infoshop in Philadelphia. I did not know who they were. But when you start your set by A) looking like the coolest dirtiest old folks imaginable and B) shouting "FUCK SOCIETY! FUCK SOBRIETY! FUCK EVERYBODY!" into a crowd of drunken, 40-wielding punks, you earn attention. Shellshag is just two people, Shell, a long-haired, burnout looking guy who plays guitar, and Shag, a wild looking girl with bells on her belt who plays drums. They play stripped down, slow garage songs about love and anger and a lot of obtuse subjects. The songs are great but seeing them played is something else entirely. When I first saw them Shell knocked out a tooth, then gave a free record to the person who found it. It wasn't even a crazy show. He just had so much fun his tooth had to go dance.

They also build a tower out of their instruments at the end of every set, and sometimes smash things. It's tons of fun. Go see them. Listen to this album. Find their newest album. Give it to me.

Wizzard Sleeve

Make the World Go Away - http://www.mediafire.com/?wd8gj70hcb5b6py

Despite them playing several shows at SXSW this year, I still haven't seen Wizzard Sleeve. But that's okay because Wizzard Sleeve is best enjoyed at 8 AM after smoking a bowl to take care of a mean hangover. It's filthy and fuzzy and a little groovy and some other stuff as well. They probably have red eyes all the time.

This is their only LP but they have a fair few 7"s with good songs on them that I don't have. Setting Fire to Your Loft is on their myspace and it is super good.

Conversions

Prisoner's Inventions - http://www.mediafire.com/?8b6bqhhrot2hfdv

I saw these folks like 4 years ago and they put to shame whatever boring austin hardcore band was playing; enough so that I can't remember who it was. The singer was pacing back and forth letting out these arythmic shrieks and looking very frustrated about something. The music was jumpy, hopping between all sorts of sick riffs. They were hawking a copy of this on CDR in a jewel case and a photocopied insert (that had way better than the artwork on the LP release). Apparently it got released on Level Plane soon after. Listen to it, it is good.

a thing that sounds rad

http://www.mediafire.com/?ji2rdr0qmkbfkpb

XYX is a band from monterrey, mexico. They sound sorta like Big Black stripped down to bass and drums with some delay. But in Spanish and sung by a girl. I saw them at SXSW at cheer up charlies; there were only about 15 people there and the wind was stirring up the dust and it looked like they were playing to the mutants who survived the nuclear apocalypse.

This is a pair of 7"s containing all their songs that I'm aware of, plus a couple of radio versions.
